Most people think coffee is just coffee.
I used to think that too — until I realized how much freshness changes everything.
I'm David Sweeney, the founder of Forever Brew, and this is the story behind why our coffee is different, why freshness matters more than most people realize, and why I decided to build a brand around doing things the right way instead of the easy way.
The Problem With Most Coffee
Take a look at the average bag of coffee at a grocery store.
It might look premium. It might even smell decent when you open it.
But here's the truth most big brands won't tell you:
That coffee was often roasted weeks or even months ago.
By the time it reaches your cup, the natural oils have faded, the aromas are dull, and the flavor you should be tasting is already gone.
Coffee is a fresh product. Just like bread.
Just like produce.
Just like anything meant to be enjoyed at its best.
Yet most companies treat it like a shelf‑stable commodity.
The Moment It Clicked For Me
I remember the first time I tried truly fresh‑roasted coffee.
Same beans. Same brewing method.
Completely different experience.
The aroma was stronger. The flavor was smoother. No bitterness. No harsh aftertaste. It was the kind of cup that makes you pause for a second and think:
"This is what coffee is supposed to taste like."
After that, it was hard to go back.
And it planted a simple idea in my mind:
Why should great coffee be hard to find?
Why I Started Forever Brew
I didn't start Forever Brew to be the biggest coffee company.
I started it to build the kind of brand I wanted to buy from myself.
A brand that:
- Roasts in small batches
- Ships fresh, not from warehouses
- Cares about quality more than volume
- Treats customers like people, not order numbers
And just as important — a brand that stands for something.
With every order, we donate a portion of sales to the Wounded Warrior Project to support veterans and their families. That part of our mission matters deeply to me.

I believe we can do both.
